Use it to verify temp in smoker. Works great

I'm not thrilled with this thermometer. I read the reviews and didn't expect much, but needed something to at least give me an idea of what temp my oven was working at. This one is "ok" but I wouldn't count on it to be very accurate if needed for precise baking. It's slow to come to temp and fluctuates quite a bit. The on and off switch doesn't work well and seems to turn itself on while stored in the drawer. I need to keep this until I get a new oven, but may be looking for a different thermometer to replace this one with.

it is WAY easier to preheat my oven now! once prehated and alarm muted, it doesn't continue going off but the display does flash. much better than other thermometers I've had that would beep insessantly.the UI is very responsive, intuitive and as basic as it can get. it updates the temperature frequently enough for an oven. it comes out of the box in celcius and can swap units on the fly at the main screen. it's not too terribly slow to hold a button to get to a temperature.interesting but very handy for a gas/RV oven feature: it has a LOW temp alarm in addition to the high temp alarm and both can be active at once. you can use this to detect if your pilot light goes out (if you have one)using this, i was able to discover my oven's thermostat knob is off by about 25°F/5°C. i always had a hunch!the cable on this is very well built, i was kinda worried that it wouldn't be able to handle the heat but nah it's solid. thermoprobe is a nice metal thing crimped on the end. i was able to route it thru the gaps around and inside my oven very easily and it sits with the thermostat's probe on the same mount with plenty of room for both.the included stick on magnets are okay, they mostly hold it onto the oven but are pretty weak. they are cut to the exact layout though, so you can remove the battery door without removing the stick on magnets.only bad thing: trying to ignite my burners causes it to reset every time the ignitor clicks. this kinda sucks because i have to reset the alarm thresholds every time i use a burner unless i use something external and i don't think about using an external lighter until i click it once and the thermostat resets LOLoverall: a must have tool for RVers!

This is not a reliable thermometer, as I got multiple readings depending on where it was placed inside the oven. There is a spot on the inside of the case at the battery portal that looks like a burn in the plastic that goes completely through it. The plastic case is ultra cheap. The instructions only tell you how to set the functions on the thermometer. But they don't give you a clue as to how you are supposed to place it inside your oven to use it as an oven thermometer. I just let it hang inside the oven (set at 300 degrees) from the door and according to the reading my oven temperature gauge is about 45 degrees too hot (345) . I let the oven completely cool so I could try a different method to see if I would get the same reading. Next I tried wrapping the cord around a wire on the upper oven rack and positioned the probe where it did not touch any metal. This time it said it was 65 degrees too hot (365). So now I am confused. Just how hot is my oven running? Or is this thing not working properly? So I pulled the probe out of the oven and let it cool down but left the oven on at the same setting. I then placed the probe back inside the oven letting it just hang from the oven door the same way I did when it told me my oven was 45 degrees too hot. At this point I should probably point out that this is not an instant read thermometer. When I put it back inside the hot oven it took a long time for the numbers on the gauge to move up a lot. It climbed so slowly that I waited a full ten minutes before calling it registered. At this point, it says my oven is 33 degrees too hot (330).So I now have received three different readings with the oven set at the same 300 degrees temperature: 345 degrees, 365 degrees, and 333 degrees. Which is correct? How does one know? Frankly, I find the old hanging thermometer to be more accurate than this one.The probe on the end is way to short to use for foods! With a rounded point, it is not going to slide easily into meats and breads to test their temperature. This isn't dependable and I cannot recommend it.

I was afraid the oven wasn’t performing optimally. Now I know for certain. The thermometer is easy, non-obtrusive and works.

This thermometer is a piece of crap. I mean… don’t know what I expected for this price. It’s an inaccurate cheap thermometer on double wires that are too short to reach into the center of the oven and get tangled. There’s nothing to mount the thermometer so you can only just dangle it in the door. The mounting magnets don’t work on stainless steel. And the wires are too short to place the base on the countertop.Really dumb product. Again… you get what you pay for

I like that I can use the magnetic side to stick it to my oven door. Keeps oven area tidy. The thermometer lets me know if the temperature on the inside is actually what it says or set. Can't always trust the temperature setting if the oven isn't an appliance that can undergo regular calibration. There seems to be some inconsistency in the accuracy of these based on reviews. I don't expect the thermometer to be exact as what is programed. That is why I have one. But if you have more than one thermometer and compare, that will help you to determine if you can trust this one. Mine appears to work fine, but my oven isn't far off from the temperature set.
