I have 2 large dogs and i used this one for the one that has a larger neck. It has to slip over her head and i cant say im a fan of that because it is very difficult to get the links off to make it smaller and it cant be made too small or it wont go over her head to get it on. My husband wad able to remove a link but I'd prefer if it had a open/close clip to put on and off like another one wr have for the other dog. The collar did prevent her from pulling and worked well for its intended purpose. Seems to be a durable collar for what wr need it for. Just dont like the over the head part.

I gave up trying to use it. Too difficult to adjust, too difficult to take on and off because of the lack of adjustments made to it. For now I"ll just search for a better option.

One of the three of my dogs is a puller unless he's wearing one of these styles of collar while out on a walk. The one we were using was three times the price of this one and has no quick release. You have to pinch the prongs and unlink them to get the collar on and off, which is fine for me but my wife has issues. This collar has a plastic clasp, which I was sure my 75 pound pit would quickly break, but it's still holding up just fine. It seems to be the only weak point on it. If it does break the collar is designed to be hooked on both of its ends to a leash, so it shouldn't cause an escape situation. As the plastic ages I'm sure the clasp will break, but again, it's holding up well after three weeks of daily use.

My 11 month old standard poodle has excellent leash manners 90% of the time. My problem is that, every once in a while, he will chase after our geese in the yard while on potty break walks. With me being pregnant, I'm afraid he'll pull me over and hurt me unintentionally, so I got this as an extra layer of safety for when he forgets how to behave. It fit around his neck straight out of the package, and the covered prongs provide just enough of a reminder for him to come back to his senses without choking or hurting him. I haven't had a pulling or bolting issue since. This may not work for totally untrained dogs, but for one who just needs the occasional reminder, this is an option when handler safety needs to come first.

We had previously used a different correction collar (with prongs) that I had to slip over our Labrador's head as it was a fixed circumference. We HATED it b/c the prongs sometimes scraped his face on the way onto his neck. This collar is so much better - can snap it into place without sliding it over his head! That, and I didn't realize that the little silicone ends for the prongs are an add-on that comes with it (I was concerned that the covers were affixed to the prongs) - so you can choose whether or not to affix them. It also comes w/ extra links for the chain if needed. I am very happy!

This prong collar worked as expected. Unfortunately it did start rusting after using in the rain a couple of times, so I doubt that it is stainless steel. I would recommend going with herm Sprenger for guaranteed quality.
