Finally got around to installing the MrMapMax Double Arm Air Hose Reel and I’m really impressed with its build quality and smooth operation. Heavy steel construction feels solid, and the auto-rewind mechanism works smoothly without any issues.The 50-foot hose is flexible yet durable, and the brass fittings provide an “almost” leak free connection. The NPT connection leak a bit. I don’t use the compressor very often and turn it off when not in use, so the leaking is not that big a deal to me. The double-arm design is sturdy.Hose says 300 PSI rating. More than I will ever need in my garage. So far, it has held up.String rewind, so be careful.Highly recommend this for anyone needing a reliable, heavy-duty air hose reel.

Seems well made, winds up OK, hose seems like a quality part, says made in Germany go figure. One side of the hose is pipe thread, the other that is taken off the center of the reel has an oddly threaded fitting that only fits the supplied iron flare to pipe fitting. Not sure what it is so will just use it. Waiting for some other stuff (not related to the reel) to get it connected to the compressor.

This is an excellent hose reel.It feels very solid and has been working great.Because of the double arms, it doesn't feel flimsy like the single arm one I replaced with this one.I usually replace the hoses that come in hose reels as they are usually terrible but this one is good so I didn't feel the need to replace this one.The hose they include is a very flexible and lightweight hybrid hose and I love that it's black.Bright colored hoses just get dirty after just one use so I always go with black hoses so this was perfect for me.

Very nice reel. I bought to convert to a power washer reel. The center factory adapter is 3/8" npt threads, the nut is 19mm. The problem is that they must have used red locktite on the threads. I used a 1/2" impact driver on it and I can't get it loose. I'm going to have to use heat which I'm reluctant to do. But for my needs, I want to alter it for a pressure washer. The entire unit is metal parts, the retractable spring is sturdy, the locking mechanism is of good quality. Glad I bought this unit, solid air hose retractable reel, highly recommend for that.

Hose is very heavy duty, reel is beefy but noisy, and would not spin due to side bolts hitting the arm. I had to grind down bolts in order for it to work properly.

The install was easy and I used the Teflon tape provided with the reel. After about an hour without any use, my compressor ran. I checked all the NPT joints for leaks. They were all leaking. I took it apart and replaced the Teflon tape with another brand that I typically used on my previous reel. They all leaked again. Once again, I took it apart and applied pipe thread sealant (pipe dope). Still leaked.My previous hose reel never leaked and the compressor would run about once a week due to overall low level system leaks. Once a week is fine. Once every hour is not. I had to return it. If you're going to turn off your compressor or disconnect it between uses, this reel seems capable. That's why I decided to give it two stars.

I have not hooked this up but I did inspect the re-coil and all of the included hardware. Other than a few lag bolts this is a complete kit. This unit is heavy but it is also very good quality. You may need help if your hanging it from the ceiling so for me i will be mounting this on the wall just above my head. It does not swivel. You could make a swivel from a lazy suzan but it would need to support not only the weight but the force applied when using it.Be Safe. Work Smart

I ordered the “Double Arm Air Hose Reel Retractable, 3/8 x 50' Hybrid Hose Heavy Duty Steel Air Compressor Hose Reel Wall Mount with 5 ft Lead in, 300PSI, Brass Fittings, Auto Rewind” to review and to use in my garage with my air compressor. Unfortunately, I did not check the size of my fittings on my compressor before ordering. They are 1/4 in, not 3/8 in. I’m currently looking for a solution to adapt this because, other than having the wrong size fittings, this reel is solid and heavy duty. I really like the rewind system which will save tons of time putting up my air hose after use. There is not much to this item out of the box: one (1) heavy-duty double-arm retractable air hose reel, one (1) 5ft lead in air hose, one (1) 3/8" x 68ft coil of air hose (installed), one (1) brass 90-degree swivel hose fitting, one (1) 3/8" female quick disconnect fitting, one (1) hardware bolting kit, one (1) roll of Teflon tape, and user instructions.First impressions: Commercial Grade. Beefy. Solid. The hose reel unit comes fully assembled (you just have to attach the lead-in air hose and 90-degree swivel fitting to your air compressor and the reel. I am very impressed with both the quality of this Retractable Hose Reel Unit, as well as its strength!All parts are very well finished. It's like looking at a factory paint job on a high-end car! Rust is going to have a hard time getting to this bad boy. I could not find any sharp edges that needed to be corrected with some filing. I actually find that unusual. Most times - even on higher priced equipment - there are some sharp points or a jagged weld somewhere. Not here. Nice!What's a hose reel without a good quality hose? Supplied on this unit, is a great hose! I don't know if it's necessarily true or not, but this hose reel is made in Germany (listed as "Galilee Super Air Hose") and I find it to be about the best large diameter air hose I have ever used. We ofter hear that many items coming from Germany are the best! Although the hose is a large diameter (5/8"), it is surprising free of fight! It is very flexible, stays where I want to, and yet it is easily retracted back onto the drum! In short, it is a joy to work with!The hose length is stated to be 68'! I have two 50', but there are times, I have had to move a car a few feet closer to the garage doors, in order to get the hose to the rear. (My two hoses don't like each other much - no, I have never tried to connect them together) 68' is very generous and I will certainly be grateful for that, at some point in the near future...The brass fitting that goes onto the reel (coming from your compressor) threads in well, and has a very smooth action of rotation, so it will always face your compressor. That fitting is massive and without flaws.The package is supplied with some bolts, which I assume is to attach the reel to some kind of metal frame or something. I would guess that if you have ordered this wonderful cord reel for air tools, you have a good understanding of tools, hardware and how to use them!Bottom line - Without doubt, this is a professional level hose reel system. It would be home in virtually any commercial shop or in any home shop where air tools are still used. (I know a lot of air tools are getting replaced with cordless units, but good air tools are still a cheaper route.) I believe the unit to be of the highest quality, and that it will last a very long time!

The first thing you’ll notice is the weight, at 42.6lbs it’s not light.It comes with 4 bolts & nuts, coupler, 90° valve, input hose and a roll of Teflon tape.It uses a thick 3mm steel on the base and reel for durability.There’s a ratcheting system so the hose locks to a specific length and doesn’t retract on itself, but if you pull it a bit more passed the locking tabs it releases the lock and starts to retract (same as the power cord on a vacuum). I found when it retracts, it just retracts in the same spot, so you need to move the hose side to side in order to keep the spool neat and ensure all of the hose fits back into the spool. I wish it had some system attached at the front that moves side to side while the hose is being retracted to keep things tidy.Since it didn’t come with instructions, it took me a few mins to figure out where the air input was located. It seems it’s on the right side in the center. Screw the 90° valve in to the side, the coupler into the valve and then the input hose into the coupler. The Teflon tape should keep it from leaking.Installation was made easier by pulling the hose all the way out, which reduces the weight significantly, so a single person is capable of installing on a wall or ceiling. It was strange that 4 bolts and nuts were included in the set as this will only allow you the ability to mount onto something that had an open back (so you can tighten the nuts onto the bolt). If mounting on a wall or ceiling, I’d expect something significantly longer, a self-tapping screw or something that would require anchors to hold over 40lbs of weight.Overall, the MrMapMax retractable air hose reel worked well. The durable hoses support up to 4500psi and has great reach with up to 68ft of hose and is designed for both cold and hot weather. I did wish it had some documentation so I wouldn’t have spent a few mins looking for the attachment point. Also, better/longer mounting screws would have been appreciated.At the time of this review, the hose was priced at $203.39.

I hate to be "that guy", but this pneumatic air hose reel kit has a a fatal flaw for North Americans.All things considered, this is a very well-made air hose reel. Very heavy and good construction. The hose itself is very high quality. For some reason the hose has the word "Germany" stamped on it, but I could find no record of any German hose company matching the other markings on the hose. Maybe it's just to give the false impression the hose is made in Germany? Nonetheless, the house seems of high quality.What is the "fatal flaw" you might ask? Well, it's very subtle and can drive ordinary people insane.The description for this item advertises that the fittings are all 3/8" NPT. They are not. All the fittings and threads are, in fact, 3/8" BSPT -- British Standard Pipe Thread, and NOT NPT (National Pipe Thread).This is a significant, yet VERY IMPORTANT difference. The threads will *almost* fit together. Sometimes they can be sort of jammed together. But they will NEVER seal. NPT and BSPT are completely incompatible.The definitive way of checking is with a thread gauge. A BSPT 3/8" fitting will have 19 TPI. NPT has 18 TPI. They are not the same. Dimensionally they are close enough to *almost* work, and it's easy to get fooled that the parts fit -- but they do not.What's maddening about this is I'm a journeyman industrial instrument mechanic and it was hard for me to figure this out. The average layperson isn't going to realise this until they find all their connections leaking for no reason that they can easily see.There is a fix for this. Unfortunately, you need to spend more money and buy BSPT to NPT adaptors to make this hose reel kit work here in North America. They are available, though you'll likely not find them in your local big box store. You'll probably have to go to an industrial supplier for the correct adapters.It's a real shame a decent product like this is sabotaged by such a basic mistake. I get that most people don't understand about pipe threads and fittings, but that just makes the problem worse, really.
