I ordered this after replacing the fuel pump in my son's Buick Century. We had troubles getting the retaining lock ring loose and had damaged it during the removal. I saw this tool and figured we may need to replace another GM fuel pump and the last repair we had a lot of foul words aimed at the locking ring. This is a very heavy duty tool and will last a lifetime. It looks like it will fit the ring openings and allow you to use a ratchet to turn the stubborn lock ring either removing or reinstalling the lock ring. I have yet to try this tool but it sure looks right and should make the experience much easier. At this point i would order the tool again and recommend it to others. I will also mention the included socket adapter detent does not hold in the tool since the tool has no indents and is slightly too large for the detent ball to hold it in the tool. So do not hold the ratchet with the tool on the adapter or the tool could fall off the adapter.

No banging and clanging here because this took is exactly what you need to get the fuel cap off. Works well, durable and easy to use. Heavier than expected but worked great!

I bought this to try and fix my car that cranks but doesn't start. As it may be linked to the fuel pump, this is incredibly helpful in case I need to replace the pump. The build is solid and it fits incredibly well when I tried. Easily well worth the price and a great value for the money. It is simple enough to use with the bolt that they provide.Greatly recommended.

Be sure to measure ring first this is not universal.

I recently replaced my fuel pump in a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. It was not fun. But this tool would have likely made it much better. Once I retry with it, I will update this post. But the reason I picked up the tool is because I feel like I was taking a huge risk loosening the ring with a screwdriver, chisel and hammer. One spark on the metal and it could be a very bad ending. With the tool, you can instead use your ratchet set with or without a breaker bar, and a rubber mallet to avoid that risk. You may also want a swivel type breaker bar for better leverage.Maybe the only improvement I could see would be an adjustable tool so that it fits different types of fuel pump rings. But I guess maybe those adjustments would eventually come loose, and at this price, it’s probably not a bad idea to have one that is designed for your specific car.
