Solid, easy to read, and slides well once lubricated (I put one drop of clock pivot oil). Cross checked measurements with drafting tools and a micrometer: checks out fine within the limits of its resolution. The tiny wheel for the thumb is not as useful as on others I have used. Given the very modest price, it's about as good as one could hope.What remains to be seen is how resistant to corrosion the metal is -- I live in Hawaii, 400ft from the coastline, and between chlorine from the pool and the sea, and sulfur dioxide from the volcanos, the air is viciously corrosive of most metals and many plastics.

Fine for quick an low precision measurements but other than that, you are better off paying a few dollars more to get a digital one that is better made.

The knob implies it scrolls with a wheel but instead it only slides so not the best quality but get what you pay for.
