I was looking for a subtle gripping surface to put on our hardwood stairs that didn't detract too much from the nice look of finished hardwood. This tape is very good quality and is perfect for slippery socks or even bare feet as it is rubberized. I was pretty conflicted about what to do about the slippery steps other than to put a carpet track (which was suggested by others and certain websites). We have had a few close calls and I couldn't imagine a pregnant wife or child falling and injuring themselves because I wanted to keep the appeal intact. The tape arrived quickly and is perfect for this application and a great compromise between looks and functionality. I measured, cut and rounded out 14 pieces for my staircase and applied the product in under two hours including going over it with a heat gun to bond it securely. As with any adhesive product, make sure to prep your surfaces adequately and I found a little heat was helpful to secure the tape and make it look more clear.

I did not pick up on this order that it has a water soluble adhesive and would not work on exterior surfaces where water can get under the tape. So have used this on interior wood steps and have had to order other safety tape for the exterior. The roughness is bare feet comfortable.

I bought this to add some "grip" to our painted basement stairs, so that when we head down in our socks we wouldn't slide off the steps. This tape went on fairly easily* and has stayed stuck for several months now. It's just the right amount of "gritty" for this application - keeps you from slipping but doesn't actually hurt even in bare feet.* Actually it was a bit hard to separate the tape from its backing each time I cut a new piece, but I got the hang of it after awhile.I would describe the material as white/translucent, if that helps. Some of the light blue from the stair paint underneath shows through.

Excellent grip tape. I used this on my slick wood stairs after falling down with my 2 month old child. (both child and daddy unhurt) Tape is clear and looks alright. Best aspects are footing is secured and no dust or sock stings/dirt stick to the tape! Great product! Thanks guys! Highly recommend.

Since moving into our home, we've always been concerned about slipping on the wood stairway down to the basement. This tape is a good improvement. The product is clear, and when installed properly, it is very inconspicuous and you can clearly see the wood grain of the floor through it. Clear doesn't mean invisible, so you will see it, but it really isn't obtrusive at all. The product photos don't do it justice. A roller is very helpful to install it properly. I have a J-Roller that is used for applying wood veneer in furniture making (search for "veneer J roller"), but you could probably come up with a good alternative from around the house if you had to. You can see the adhesive turn from opaque to clear as you roll it out and make a good bond with the floor. I cleaned the floor thoroughly with a medium strength Simple Green solution to get rid of oils and dirt before applying the tape. I just installed today, so I'll update the review if there are any problems over time.UPDATE 8/11/2016: They are still in like-new condition. No problems.UPDATE 2/12/2019: Still perfect.

I wanted a clear non skid tape without sand paper like surface. This stuff is clear so the oak step shows thru and grips feet well without having a sand paper feel and look. Excellent but a bit expensive.

Love this tape. Installed it on wooden stairs to make them less slippery. The tape went on easily, has stayed in place, and is barely noticeable.
