We needed a branding iron for the show, "9 to 5". It would make a better prop if the rod were longer, but this works for me.

This branding iron is light in we4ight and it is made of stainless steel I think, as it is non magnetic.It is sort of OK on leather but not on wood. It does not have enough thermal mass IMHO & that limits it use ability on wood.Even on leather it is hard to get the temperature right for a proper impression.Personally I have to recommend spending more to buy a higher quality iron because this one is very tricky to use and get it right.

Not mechanically complicated: it's a threaded metal rod that you screw on a letter, put in the fire, and brand something. Solidly made. Only came with one letter, as far as I can tell you would need to order each letter brand separately (so you would end up with 26 letters and 26 handles). Front face of the letter was not perfectly flat but pretty close. It corrects with some pressure and still gives a clean shape when branding. Size of the letter is a true 2 inches (which is exactly what they claim) so take this into account when you are buying. Also comes with a small metal stand that folds out to allow you to set it down without burning stuff.Overall, what you see is what you get.

This branding iron is exactly what it needs to be: a sturdy tool for making a clear mark on wood. The stainless steel construction feels solid, and the threading for attaching letters is smooth. It heats up quickly and evenly, and the 2" size is perfect for smaller projects. Keep in mind that you'll need to order individual letters separately. This a letter brander is quality made with stainless steel. It has a long enough handle and a wooden handle on it that you will not get burned. It is fairly flat and leaves a good impression of the burnt a which is the letter I got on whatever you’re burning, really good price and performance good value for the money

Fairly quick and simple review on this one. I ordered it for our son who does a lot of grilling as well as woodworking so I thought this would be fun for him (his name starts with "A"). Overall, I am pleased with this branding iron however I will say that the metal and overall size is a bit smaller and less substantial than I was hoping for; not a big issue here but you will need to take care not to overheat and deform the metal. Also, the handle seems a bit flimsy and again, care will be needed so you don't break or otherwise deform it. For those reasons I did take one star off of my review however I do like this and think it will be something that my son enjoys using. If it holds up, I plan to get one for myself just for fun as well.
