So here's the issue. Many home chefs are ridding their kitchens of the dangerous(?) black plastic cooking utensils. The general consensus is to stick with established names like Oxo, Staub and GIR to ensure that you are getting a safe silicone utensil. The problem is that these companies have such limited choices, that it has forced me to venture beyond them. It seems to have the feel of silicone, but has a more rigid feel than my other silicone utensils I own. This might be due to the nylon interior. This slotted spoon has an excellent design. It is a nice size, about 4.5" wide. It is not flat, like a skimmer slotted spoon, so there is less of a chance of items tumbling back into your pot. I used the spoon tonight to fish out raviolis from a boiling pot of water. Works great. Great value too. I would increase this to a 5 star rating if I felt more confident that it is 100% food grade silicone.

I bought a few of these tools, really like them, and they work well on my non-stick pans, I have put them through the dishwasher several times, I honestly don't know if I was supposed to hand wash them. But they have become wobbly at the handle, the silicone has not come off yet, but I think it's just a matter of time before it falls apart. I will keep using them and maybe glue them back together if they do fall apart because I really do like them.
