Bought one each for a 7yr old boy, 9 yr. Old boy , & 10 yr old girl for a camping trip. They were a hit. It is a legit fishing kit. The adults were impressed with the quality & gear, too.

This is a great combo for kids to start fishing. It comes with everything you need and is simple for beginners to learn how to cast. In fact this is the type of reel I started learning on before moving onto spinning and conventional gear.You press the button and hold down and release to cast. When you crank it automatically engages the reel. You can also click it down to engage freespool, and then pressing the button will lock the line in place till you release.Overall great price and combo for any young kid getting into fishing.Interestingly this rod also works great for aldult :) See perches I caught this morning with this rod!

This is not as nice as the picture indicates. I was disappointed in the quality. All the pictured items fit in the little bag. It was inexpensive for all the fishing tackle that was included and my 5 year old grandson was happy, so that's what matters!

We bought this for our four year old for his birthday! He LOVES it! The quality is great that we even use it ourselves for catching bait fish! The accessories it comes with are a huge plus! The carrying case makes it convenient and allows our son to be able to carry it independently (which he loves to do). Will definitely be purchasing another one for our other son when he get a little older!

I was surprised how compact the rod was when collapsed. The kit has everything you need to get started. My 4 year old daughter is able to cast by herself, the mechanism is pretty simple. All in all a great beginners rod or even if you want something cheap and compact as an adult. Recommend!
