In 1984, a Lebanese immigrant, Ouidad Wise, opened the first salon in N.Y.C. dedicated to curls. As a hairstylist and curly girl, she was passionate about embracing the unique texture of curls and spent years honing specialized cutting and styling techniques like the “Carve and Slice” and "Rake and Shake,” which are still used in salons around the world today. From behind the chair to fashion shows, Ouidad was determined to empower others to “let curls be curls”. A signature product line was soon to follow. Curl-specific care is still hallmark to everything we do. For over 30 years, we've perfected a customized, professional salon-quality approach to curl care with products specifically formulated for every curl type—from loose curls and waves, to spirals, tight curls, and coils.

Is very sturdy and strong, well-made. I have barely any hair stuck to the comb after de-tangling. Double rows help to get through dense curls! The handle is very easy to grip, giving it ease of use. The comb is on the larger side, so some may find the comb part large in comparison to their head. A must have though!

The material for this comb is MUCH lighter than the original comb, which is still ok. The original comb was made of some sort of extremely durable and heavy plastic (?) kind of material that didn’t bend or yield…and the weight of it made your hair submit to the comb, which made combing extremely efficient and effective.Although this comb’s material is much lighter and more bendable than the original, the science of the comb still works. The double row, wide teeth and round ends combined make getting kink and knots out almost as effective as the original, even if the comb yields a bit to the hair sometimes. This comb massages the scalp and moves through the hair with little to no breakage, so even though it may not be the same as the original, it is STILL EFFECTIVE.I think this comb is a good buy. Better than 95 percent of combs out there on the market, in my opinion.And the pink ombré color is just FABULOUS and fashionable. I suggest trying this out.

I can finally get through my daughter’s super tight curls so much easier!! I don’t know where this thing’s been all my life. It’s so much more effective than a single pick.

I had the original version of this comb but lost it. This version is not as good, it feels like it was created via 3d printing. The original one is more solid and heavy, this one feels light and flimsy. Hope I can find the original one soon.

I have the first iteration of this comb from about 10 maybe 15 years ago. And that comb was heavy. You would put that comb in your hair and it would just fall through your hair and scout for you. However, that comb was discontinued. And I have been searching for it ever since hoping we that would provide the comb again. so you can imagine my surprise when I saw this pop up on my Amazon search. I purchased it right away, and was highly anticipating the comb because not only did I miss the design of the first iteration of this comb, but I missed the weight of the comb because I found it helpful when trying to massage my scalp and detangle my 4b/c curls. I was surprised to find that this new comb was 25% of the weight of the former comb yet it was only seven dollars cheaper than the first iteration of the comb. There is no way this comb or massage my scalp like the first comb dead, which is 50% of why I love this comb. I will leave a comment on how well this comb dangles my curls. This remains to be seen. So what I’m trying to figure out is, why did Ouidad put their name behind a $2 comb and overcharge us for it? Shame. Thank goodness I saved the box.

This is a great detangling comb. I’ve been able to cut down my detangling time in half. Easy to clean as well.
