At first use, I was thinking this may be a bit larger than I had hoped for - especially the overall length. But after a few uses I appreciated its size. The drain slots are close together so that you can easily drain most any food item - noodles, frozen veggies, etc., without danger of food slipping through the openings. It has worked wonderfully for ramen noodles. The long handle is easy to grip and keeps your hand far from the hot water when draining items. And, I no longer need to take the colander down from the cabinet, set it in the sink to drain the item, wash it out, dry it and then return it to the cabinet. With my new spider strainer I can drain items easily without setting anything down, or fear of being burned, and then do a quick rinse and I am good to go. Easy - Peasy. This was a good purchase.

I’ve seen many of these that are made in China, and they look like they’re not a good investment. This OXO spider is 5-1/2†wide, made from very sturdy chrome-plated steel and a nice rubber handle. It’s perfect for making hard boiled eggs, as it will hold 4 or 5 eggs at a time. Looks like it will last a lifetime and worth a few extra bucks rather than the cheap-quality ones!

This kitchen utensil is very handy and makes it easy to strain fried foods or removing delicate pasta from boiling water, ect. It is well built and designed. With care should last a long time.

As like most OXO products, this spider is well built and works well! The angle of the scoop makes it a little bit hard to fit into a shallow drawer, but this helps make it easier to scoop into a deep pot.

A bit large, but edges curve up just the right amount to keep pasta or vegetables from falling back into a pot. Very well made. Worth the price.

Well made, strong and good quality. Only problem is trying to fit it into spoon holder along with other utensils, as handle is quite thick (so it's ended up being housed in a basket in a kitchen cupboard - not ideal). Still, very pleased with the purchase.
