I got this to clean an old knife that I’ve kept for sentimental reasons. I thought it was just rusty so I tried the steel wool on it. It came a lot cleaner, but there was some staining left which I figured was permanent, so I took the picture and started writing this review. Just as I finished the second sentence, it dawned on me to try copper cleaner on the remaining stains. Indeed, it got rid of most of the stains; there are still some black spots on the tip of the knife, and I suspect they are permanent damage. But the rust is gone, no doubt about that. I used the steel wool dry and with gentle pressure. I am posting the before picture, the picture after steel wool only, then the last one is after the copper cleaner. The steel wool comes in a generous sized roll, so it will last me awhile, though If I needed more I would definitely purchase this again.

Works as expected and excellent value, no more metal dust than any other steel wool I've used and grade 0000 is my favorite and best for not marring precious metal but of course always test in a inconspicuous place on the item being cleaned.
