Bought this for the 283 in my '67 C-10 to replace the old points style distributor. It was packaged very well and securely. Dropped right into the engine. I wired it from the ignition switch to a relay to feed 12v from the battery directly with a thick new wire. Dropped right in and the truck ran smoother, started faster, and a slight bog when the carburetor secondaries kicked-in went away.

I purchased this in April 2021. I looked at similarly priced SBC distributors, read the reviews and understandably some percentage of them fail. I figured that the likelihood of failure was low, the distributor was inexpensive, I know what I'm doing and decided to purchase it. I've used it for ten (10) months and it quit abruptly while driving. I coasted into a parking lot and looked for anything such as a loose electrical connection. After five minutes, I couldn't find anything wrong. I attempted to start the truck (1969 Chevy C10 with GM 5.7L crate engine) and it fired right up as if there was never a problem. I continued using my truck for a few more days and it was problem free. Then it happened again. The truck quit running and I was able to push it out of traffic into a parking lot. I quickly determined there was no spark. After a tow home, I diagnosed both the coil and pickup were fine. I decided to buy a stand alone ignition module from a local retail parts store. I found it odd that the original ignition module inside the distributor had no markings and no date codes. The spade lugs that connect to the module were poorly designed and weren't very secure. I'm not sure how a supplier could be furnishing these parts without some sort of tracking or quality control. In contrast, the replacement module that I purchased from a local store did have part numbers, date code and "made in the U.S.A." stamped on it. I installed it and the distrubutor worked again. I figured that the original ignition module is a power device with transistors inside, these things can fail, no problem.I was going to keep using the distributor until I noticed another problem. The vacuum advance diaphram was leaking and not holding vacuum. At this point, I realized I cannot continue using this distributor. An ignition module failure and vacuum advance diaphram failure is just too much. I can't recommend using this distributor.

Seems to work fine. I swapped weights, from ones I had on my other hei as timing wasn't coming in tell 4500 rpm. Now starts coming in at 1500rpm. They didn't fit perfect, had to drill holes tad bigger now lines up. got all in and c10 runs good.
