After removing the trimmer from the box, I charged it until the green light came on, which took almost exactly 3 hours. I'm aware that the charger doesn't have an automatic shut-off when the battery is fully charged, so for future charges I'm considering plugging the charger into a light timer, setting it for maybe 4 hours and see if it will fully charge within that amount of time. I can always adjust the timer as needed. So far (with just two uses for a total of about 30 minutes) this trimmer has operated well. I trimmed quite a large clump of what I call "monkey grass" with the grass trimmer blade which was attached when I received it. It had no problems doing this trimming.I've also tried the hedge trimmer attachment, and it works satisfactorily. It's a little slow and cannot accommodate very large limbs, but for small bushes it should do the job nicely. Thus far, the trimmer has acted flawlessly, so I would recommend it to other customers. Its light, easy to use and I like the safety switch design.

THIS is my THIRD Sunjoe Grass Trimmer. Why would I need three, you might ask. Well, funny story that I'll get to in a minute.I bought my first SJ in August of 2018. That little thing has gotten a workout. I don't like to get out the big weed whacker for jobs that are around my flowers or delicate plantings. It still works fine. My second SJ was bought to use at our Lakehouse in May of 2019. It also got a workout because the flower beds were looonnnnggggg. We sold that place in 2023 so I brought it home. Yes, it still works. So, why the third? I thought one of my older ones had died. It worked till it just stopped a few weeks ago. Got a little branch in it and I removed that (that happens, no worries) but it would never start again. I put it on the charger overnight but it wouldn't start the next day either. I figured, well, it is 6 years old and in little machine years that is pretty old. So I got out the second one. It worked about 10 minutes, I jammed it on a thick weed, and it wouldn't start back up. WHAT?!!!!! I put it on the charger for a few hours and it still wouldn't start. Again, this one was 5 years old so it is old. I couldn't find anything about what might be wrong on-line so I set about taking one of them apart. I took out all the screws, which was no easy job because they are WAY in there. I didn't see anything wrong. I put it back together. I was going to throw them away but hadn't gotten around to it (thankfully).I order this THIRD one. It arrived quickly. BUT, I was thinking....I want to try to charge the old ones one more time...........I got out the second charger I owned....the oldest SJ showed the RED charging light. It charged. It worked. I plugged in the second one...Same thing. Worked. So, you may ask, WHY didn't I see that the red light wasn't on when using the other old charger? Well, it was in a room with very bright sunlight and I just figured I couldn't see the light because it was so bright in there. (go ahead and roll your eyes)There you have it. Chargers can go bad. Go figure. But here is the thing. I won't send back the newbie. It is like if you have two sweet dogs and you have a chance to adopt another one. It makes you happy. And if I can find a replacement charger I may give one to my sister. So, let's talk about how it works. I am a senior citizen. very senior actually. I have no problem using this or holding the top button and the bottom to make it go......Someone with arthritis in their hands might have problems, but maybe not. I was still able to use it when I had trigger finger in two fingers on my hand with no problems.I tried using the Hedge Trimmer Blade with my first SJ and I was never happy with that. BUT all my shrubs had thicker branches and it just wouldn't go through them. I could do the smaller, new branches on my azalea but it would hit a thicker one and jam. I will give the new one a try.I have given the smaller "grass" blades quite a workout all these years. That little thing goes and goes and I tire out before it does. It doesn't work well in the early morning when the grass and weeds are wet with dew......it works but it doesn't sound happy. It is amazing after the dew dries.I hire someone to do the edging in our 3/4 acre property, but I prefer to take care of the areas around my plantings. I've had too many things whacked down that weren't weeds, (I cried a little when they whacked down my mature calla lillies) so I tell them to leave certain areas to me, and my SunJoe.I put a little 3 in 1 oil on the blades after a workout and run it a few seconds. I clean it off with a cotton hand towel to keep it nice. Clearly these things last a very long time. I can attest they last longer than 6 years with heavy use 2 seasons of the year, and a little use in the Fall in my area...I have recommended the SunJoe Grass and Hedge Trimmer to many of my friends.....those who have purchased one have thanked me. It is a perfect tool for anyone who likes to garden and keep their flower beds looking neat and manicured. It is an absolute necessity for a senior who can't use manual hand tools with ease any longer.THANK you SunJoe for a great product. And if you read this, let me know if I can buy a replacement charger so I can share the joy and give away one of my SJs.

Overall this is a good hedger. It's easy to use. When it arrives, the grass trimmer blade is attached. It only took me a couple minutes to figure out how to swap out to the hedger blade. It's reasonably light weight and easy to hold in my hand. And I like having the safety switch. Keeping a steady forward (or backward) motion, it cut through the small branches and leaves very well. At this point my rating would have been a 5 star. The problem I had is with the battery charge life. It only lasted about a half hour, maybe 45 minutes before I noticed it was slowing down. Since the battery is built into the hedger, you can't just swap out with another charged battery. You have to plug in the hedger to the charging unit and wait 4-5 hours for it to fully charge. I had close to 2 more hours worth of hedging to do, so this meant I had to do my hedging over a two day period. So if you only have a small job to do with the hedger, then the Sun Joe is great. I haven't used the grass trimmer but I expect the battery lasts longer doing that because it takes less power to cut grass than branches. Oh, one other issue, though it turned out to be minor. The plug on the charging unit cord wouldn't fit into the Sun Joe outlet. The rubber part of the plug was too big to fit. I ended up using a razor blade and beveling the very edge of the plug and now it fits fine.

Easy for 71 year old woman with arthritis to use! I am so pleased with this tool! It has two blades, a clipper and hedger.I was easily able to trim back a large pollinator garden, Siberian irises, as well as edging and trimming. Battery lasts about an hour of continuous use and is quick to recharge. If you re on the fence don’t hesitate, you won’t be disappointed!

So after researching and debating on how to spend money on a much needed cordless hedger trimmer, I decided to give this one a shot. Have a lot of shrubs and wayward grass and various bushes. Well, I'm happy to report it works well. Just like those other reviews that says it does. It's strong, light, battery lasts a long time. Though I haven't used it until it ran out. I normally recharge it after use. (like my other rechargeable tools)Sliding off the blade cover is easy enough. However, it takes a little "massaging" to get it back on. And while it's not difficult to to change out the blades, getting them to set properly while trying to slide the cover back on, can be tricky. The surprise for me was: I bought it mainly for the hedge trimmer blade, but quickly fell in love with the grass shear blade. It rips through a lot crab grass, burr medic (a major pain) and weeds. This tool is efficient inexpensive and ready work. I highly reccomend it.

Excelente herramienta! Te facilita la vida, pero es para detalles, corta muy bien y no necesitas esfuerzo. Espero que la navaja dure mucho, el plástico no es de la mejor calidad pero en general es un buen producto. Llegó antes de lo esperado.

Tool is light weight and the battery lasts a long time. It's easy to use and helps to complete garden chores in minimal time. I've used it to trim bushes and cedars, as well as cut down ornamental grasses. It worked well for each of these tasks. I was impressed by it's ability to trim all but thick branches. I love that no electric cord is required and no heavy battery is attached to the tool while I am using it. I've used it quite a bit while cleaning up the yard for winter and lent it to family members for the same purpose. I recommend this tool.
