Not bad for made in china, broke first time use, able to bend and adjust to make it work ok, still working today.

There is a HOOK on the outside, which sticks out well past the advertised dims and so I can't get the part into the metal shell that it needs to live in to work. The dims of the part not counting the hook are also slightly over. I have yet to figure out a solution. The part is is replacing had a smaller hook, and it was wound tighter so it all fit no problem. It might be a thinner material but the width is the same and the number of wraps are the same. Not sure about total length unwrapped since I can’t really figure that out, but they are very close to the same total length, yet this one will not go in. I bought it for a 15†drill press and I think it would work fine for that, if I could get it into the housing. Open to suggestions on how to proceed. I did attempt to wind it up tighter so I could get it in but there is no way I can do that with what I have available to me. An alternative is to damage my 35-40 year old mint drill press by using a cut off wheel and cutting a slot into the side of the housing for that hook to fit. The way the drill press cup is made, it just has a pressed in section to hook on with the spring. Again, the total DIMS, if they were accurate, I would be in business already so just keep that in mind if you are buying for a drill press..

Be careful and make sure the spring is installed before removing the wire holding it closed.

Probably would install easy in drill press. I used as a counter balance spring on a older car manual window crank. Worked great.
