Good unit! They are much larger than expected so I tend to get different measurements depending where on the flu or face of the stove they are places because those are all curved surfaces. Be ready to try different locations to get a consistent reading .

Bought this for our wood burner it helps determine the internal heat which helps us know when blower will turn on. Also, to make sure internal heat does not get to high which could indicate air flow/ chimney issue . Works great!!

So far I love these! They respond to space heaters heat match another thermometer I tested with - so they work. Put one on my wood burning stove pipe and one one the neighbors ( he nearly had a fire last year from red hot pipe- super scary!! ) the whole event reminded me we had a gauge when I was a kid!! Was happy to find these & ordered immediately! I feel better about knowing the temperature even though I've never had an issue. I Tend to burning slow and low as soon as I can to use less wood. Neighbor burns like whoever burns the most wood wins- so I feel better being able to check his pipe temp at a glance and will teach him how to shut down when the temp is rising. These new stoves recommend no dampers - I don't agree with this, I have one neighbor does not .. I feel his air controls are not adequate to limit O2 in an emergency. That scare was too close for comfort! This will allow monitoring of the pipe temperature and prevent problems from starting. I believe it will help in learning to use the stove more efficiently as the ideal tempurature for proper draft and efficiency are also clearly shown. The bright colors are easy to see even from across the room and effects of shutting down air vents can be visually observed - I like this alot. These should improve safety and efficiency during this winters heating season and may keep the entire neighborhood safe. ;)4 stars for now. Will have to use longer for full evaluation.

Both gauges replaced two others of a different brand that never worked right and just were aggravatingIn addition, these two new gauges have a heat range markings that fit closely with my Catalytic converter stove as far as marks for start up temps to kick in the converter and top temps the converter should be producing.Hope they last!

I have always wondered how hot my stove fireplace is getting - too hot, too cool?? I saw these and immediately ordered them. I only wanted one but I suppose with two you could get the temperature at different places. I was glad to find that I was not burning too hot, and it helps me know when it's time to add more wood. Be sure to use the little metal handle if you pull it off while it's hot!!

These are awesome. I put them on either side of my wood burning stove and I love being able to see how hot it gets now. My only gripe is I wish there was some sort of thin fabric in front of the magnet to avoid scratching the finish on my stove. If you don't care about that then these are perfect for you!
