Blade is to short to cut slices off 3.5" x3.5" blocks of cheese. Blade really needs to be at least 5" (length of diagonal) to work on the big blocks of cheese. Does cut through cheese.

This cheese slicer is all metal and very easy to clean. I imagine that you can toss it into the dishwasher, but so far I just washed it by hand. The slicer is actually a blade, which sold me on this item. Other slicers just use a wire, which is more traditional, but which makes them less durable. The four small cheese knifes with wooden handles are a nice bonus. We use them regularly on charcuterie boards when we have guests over. And the slicer is nice enough to leave it out and let our guests make their own cuts if they like. Very happy with this purchase so far.

Not very good for harder cheeses like cheddar or pinconing etc. The blade bends easily. It works well for brie, cream cheese colby jack etc.
Glitter, sparkle, shine, but most of all BE KIND!!

I used this for Christmas dinner to make baked macaroni and cheese with chunks of mild throughout. Saved lots of time versus cutting by hand. Love it can cut just about anything also. Carrots, onions and boiled eggs, potatoes for fried potatoes and so much more. Excellent value and durability for the cost. Buy it and you won’t regret. Also easy to clean and love the little utensils to cut come with it too.

I'd give this five stars except that it's a bit difficult to clean. I often buy my cheese in entire blocks, and most slicers just can't handle the job. This one does it without any problem. I recommend it for anyone who wants to slice cheese that comes in more than those little 8oz supermarket portions.
