Comparing to the marble slab cheese cutter I used for years...this metal one's edges could stand more of a roll. Edges are somewhat sharp. The metal wire is thicker which takes more force to cut through the cheddar cheese. I've found it not possible to get a thin, consistent slice of cheese. Perhaps a less dense cheese would be less resistant. Maybe that is why it comes with 20 replacement wires.

Very robust and it cuts the cheese! Great that it comes with a lot of extra metal strings to use if anytime the one your using breaks. Easy clean up as well.

I really wanted to like this stainless steel cheese slicer. However, I found that slicing medium cheddar cheese, which should be easy, was much more work than expected. The block of cheese isn't stable on the platform, which causes the slices to be uneven—the cutting wire flexes, which again causes weird thicknesses in the cheese slice. Finally, after using it, I found that the wire hit the edge of the slot, so I had to hold the handle away and slice simultaneously. This makes it even more difficult to cut evenly. If I were to cut larger pieces of cheese, this cutter would be suitable. Thinner pieces of cheese are out of the question.The bottom line is that this stainless steel cheese slicer is not a good value for your money. There are others available for similar costs that work much better.

Very cheaply made. Way too much wiggle in the arm to cut anything uniformly. I tried tightening the screws and they are stripped out and won't tighten. Item is being returned.

This cheese slicer is about a 4.5 star product.It's small - a little larger than a 7oz block cheese, and lightweight, but it's strong and a decent quality product.I've used slicers previously that were more costly and was disappointed at how cheap the wire was. Most of those broke after only a few uses. This one is definitely not cheap.I sliced every type of cheese that I had on hand (about four types which was far fewer than I normally have) and it did a pretty good job.The Cracker Barrel block cheese was the easiest to slice. The wire blade cut easily through the cheese, and I was able to cut pieces of different thickness.It was not strong enough to cut through the Locatelli block but I didn't expect for it to be. That type of cheese is generally grated anyway, so it's not a big deal.I was most pleasantly surprised by the way in which this slicer cut through the BelGioioso mozzarella ball cheeses. It cut a very nice, thin, even slice of the larger ball - which is not easy to do - and it even cut through ciligiene and pearls. I'm impressed!

This was so handy during this holiday. It is also pretty durable and I'm so happy it came with a pack of replacement wires. It's super easy to clean by hand and small enough for easy storage. I was able to slice a bunch of cheese and even some pepperoni and charcuterie items.
