So far, I've loved this cheese slicer. It's very similar to the one my mom had growing up. Her cheese slicer makes a particular sound from the wheel clinking with the base. Any time I heard it as a child, I would yell from the other room, "Bring me a slice, too, please!" The nostalgia alone makes this worth it. But, I can also see this lasting 50+ years, just like my mom's has lasted her that long. It feels durable in hand and is easy to adjust the thickness of the cheese slics by holding the handle at various angles according to what thickness you're going for. Very pleased. Will be buying another for my sister.

This cheese slicer works as advertised. It's solidly made, has nice heft and cuts cheese. I will have to get the hang of getting the thickness I desire, but the other cheese slicers I owned previously didn't give the thickness I desired either with their "adjustable" rollers. Those things drive me to distraction. This one doesn't even attempt that, instead the manufacturer demonstrates how to adjust your hold to change the thickness.

In looking for a cheese slicer an Amazon, I had to wade through tons of Chinese made ones. Noticed many came with extra wires. Made me suspicious - why would you need several wires unless they broke easily? Saw this german made one. Germany is known for their high quality mechanical products, so I decided for just a dollar more than the Chinese ones, to get this. Handle is aluminum alloy, simple and sturdy. Wire is stainless steel. first thing I tried was to slice aged Gouda. This had a pretty hard rind. The wire stretched quite a bit, and I had to apply a lot of pressure to get thru the rind, and the wire held up. At that point I knew this would last a long time. The wire cut through the rest of the cheese like butter. I dont plan on using this to go thru rind like this - its very hard to even cut with a knife. But it passed my test. buy it!

Lightweight but cuts firm cheese. There's no slice thickness adjustment, but you can change the angle you cut at to get thinner slices. The wire is the normal failure point in these slicers, and this one seems sturdy enough. I had a similar slicer that lasted for many years, hoping this one does as well.

Dieser Käseschneider eignet sich insbesondere für festeren Käse, dort, wo ein Hobel eher verbiegt. Die Bezeichnung "Hobel" ist ein bisschen irreführend, da mit diesem Gerät der Käse geschnitten wird ;-)
