Worked great, easy install on my 03 jetta sedan. Took my time installing it, used a jack to hold it in place as it can be a bit awkward alone. Have used it a bunch towing my small utility trailer and haven't had a problem yet! Had about maximum of 900lbs in the trailer and the ol jetta handled it well.

I put off ordering one of these for a long time, wish I hadn't. I thought it would be more difficult to install than it actually was. It's a two person job, but that is mainly to hold the hitch in place to mark the drill holes and then again to hold it in place during the actual placement while you put the bolts through. I used it on m VW Jetta. I pulled a couple of small trailers and put a bike rack on it as well. I took a uHaul half way across the United States and it was tight the whole way. Overall, I never had any issues. It never came loose even though I bottomed out a couple of times on dips in the road. It lost some paint off the underside, but the metal was still perfectly in tact - couldn't say the same for the roads that got scraped. Ultimately my Jetta died and I sold it for scrap; I probably should have dismantled the hitch and resold it separately since it was still highly functional and worth more than the car. Oh well. Good product. Just check and make sure you get the right model for your specific vehicle.

One side of the hitch just bolts to the floor of the trunk. It looks very unsafe and poorly designed

I would suggest getting another person to help hold in place whole starting the RH side bolts. I needed a floor jack to properly seat the LH side to the trunk floor and drill holes. The RH bracket covers the rear pull point, so I used a 2-1/2" hole saw a relieved the corner of the bracket. Should be able to get a chain thru it now. Design flaw IMO.

I only recently installed this on my 2009 Volkswagen Jetta City. The installation took around an hour with just me and my hydraulic jack supporting the tow bar up as I lined up the initial nuts and bolts.I installed my bike rack and everything seems to be tight and snug. I have yet to test this out on the road, but I'll update this once I tried this out for a few months.
