Additionally, they offer a convenient channel scan feature that allows users to easily check for activity on different channels. For power, these walkie-talkies offer dual options. They can be powered by the included rechargeable battery pack, providing a reliable and reusable energy source. Users have the option to use 3 "AAA" batteries (not included) for flexibility.
  • UP TO 30-MILE RANGE: Unlock the power of long-range communication capabilities in, unobstructed environments with minimal or no obstacles. With enhanced signal reach, these devices enable seamless and reliable connections over greater distances. With this functionality, your walkie-talkies automatically scan through 10 weather channels, identifying and locking onto the strongest weather channel available. This ensures that you receive critical updates and alerts regarding severe weather conditions. When a potential risk of severe weather is detected, the NOAA Weather Alert triggers an audible alarm, notifying you to take necessary precautions.

I am very pleased with these walkie talkies. These FRS Two-Way radios have sophisticated features, but allow a more simplistic use like regular 'ole talkies. They have very good range, based upon my experience hunting in the mountains of ELK and Cameron counties in PA.They feel good in your hand, appear solidly built, and come with their own charger. I've gone through two hunting seasons on just a single charge. I also don't chatter all day long on them like some people.Hey, talk when you get back to camp, keep the chatter down, deer can hear too. ;)I don't expect to need another set, but when I do, I will look these up again.

My wife had fallen. She can get out of bed, but needs me to help her get up and help her walk.I was using Alexa, but then the internet went down.Alexa occasionally announces things that have no meaning to me.I live in a housing development near a small town.I scanned the channels and found no one on any of them..I choose channel 11.I did not have to use the extra tones, since there were no others on any channel. On low power it will talk inside and outside. The volume is probably too low, to hear when I am riding on my mower.I can sort of hear it, but not well enough to know for sure. The mower make a lot of noise.I have to turn it off, if someone comes up to talk to me.We live in a brick house.Midland LTX630VP3 is a pretty good radio. I like the 2 year warranty and the screen is large enough for my old eyes to see the channel number. I choose yellow on black for the case. Midland is a recognized name in handheld FRS radios. I did not need a GMRS license, because I was not going to talk very far. I think about 2 miles is all that it will talk on an open field. 30 miles is mountain top to mountain top, if the atmosphere is excellent and using GMRS 50 watt radio. It has an excellent battery charger, The 2 units snap in.Unlike the Baofeng, where I have to try again and again to get the radio in the charger. It weighs a little more than 1/2 the weight of Baofeng UV5R.I clip it in my shirt pocket and do not know that it is there.I charge it 6 hours at night and the red light never goes out.If I used it all the time, I think I would need some rechargeable AAA batteries.Three things that Midland did not do.1. The battery case has no way to reasonably remove it. But a small screwdriver or knife, inserted just below the serial number, in the middle, and wiggled will help get the case off. The screwdriver make no mark on the case.2. Midland does not tell how to insert the battery. I am including a photo that shows where the the tab goes. (lower left).3. Midland's instruction manual, with 3 point character size, is too little for me to read. There is a PDF manual, not at Midland, that has full size print.I am returning the radio.I needed a radio that I could have turned on for 16 hours, then recharge in 7 hours - at most. The radio is in standby 98% of the time, for about a 16 hours day. This battery takes over 12 hours to charge, so I can not use it.It would take rechargeable batteries to make it work.It is a not convenient to remove the clip and to get a knife to open the case.I had ordered the batteries and a charger. After thinking about the daily removing, installing, charging of batteriesfor two devices, two times per day, I will need to return the charger and batteries.Another manufacturer make a 3000ma battery for a radio. It takes 5 hours to charge. It is also, lower priced than this radio and the charger and the batteries. I will need to go with that radio.

I purchased these walkie talkies to use on a European cruise so that my wife and I could communicate with each other on the ship and when onshore. Since we didn't have cell phones that would work while we were in Europe, we needed to have communication devices that would be dependable. We weren't disappointed with these walkie talkies. Before we left the U.S., I experimented with these units to see how they'd perform in a city environment. We live in Tucson. My wife stayed at home (inside the house) with one unit, and I drove away from the house with the other unit. I stopped and got out of the car at various distances away from the house. The units worked well within 1 mile. Between 1 and 1-1/2 miles, the quality of signal began to deteriorate. At 1.5 miles, it was hit and miss. Over 1.5 miles, there was no reception.Since I knew we would never be more than a few blocks apart while we were on land on our trip, I was confident that we could depend on these walkie talkies to keep us in touch. In fact, they performed well in a number of different city and topographical environments on our trip.At one port, our ship anchored offshore and we had to take tenders to get to shore. My wife went ashore ahead of me, and I was able to talk with her from inside our cabin while she went ashore on the tender, and then I spoke with her once she got to shore. It was great. The only time that they failed us in an important situation, was when the batteries were too weak to transmit a strong signal. (FYI, I was using 3 fresh Energizer Advanced Lithium AAA batteries in each unit.)IMPORTANT: When the units failed, this was the situation: Even though the battery indicator was at 3 bars while the units were in standby mode, as soon as either of us would press the PTT button (the button you press to transmit when you want to talk into the walkie talkie), the battery indicator would show the empty battery shell icon (zero bars)! Of course, we didn't know that it worked that way. (The documentation doesn't describe how this works.) We were lulled into a false sense of security by the 3 bars, while in reality, we needed to change the batteries! If you buy these walkie talkies, be sure to periodically check the battery level by pressing the PTT button so you will know the true battery level. We learned the hard way. Luckily, I knew where my wife was located when this happened, but it could have been a more serious problem if we didn't know where to look for the other person. We were on a 3 week cruise and this occurred during week three.I didn't expect these walkie talkies to work at all on the ship due to its metal construction, but I was very happily surprised to find out they worked reasonably well, even when we were separated by several decks and while I was at the back of the ship and my wife was toward the front of the ship -- even when one of us was in our inside (no porthole) cabin at the back of the ship. They didn't always work, but they worked more often than we could have hoped for. In the cases when I wanted to find my wife and my signal wasn't reaching her, I'd just start walking through the ship and keep pressing the CALL button (it emits a loud alert signal), and eventually the signal would reach her. I never failed to find her using this technique. It was really helpful.I can recommend these walkie talkies for the types of limited situations described above. The price I paid at Amazon was a good value for the performance we got. As far as their ability to transmit 26 miles -- dream on!!

Even though these radios are small they do a great job. I use them to communicate with other RVs while traveling and they work great. Clear and the distance is great.
