I replaced the stock filters on a 4 gal California Air portable compressor. The originals were the small ones with the small clear tube sticking out. What a difference! Big noise reduction. Also lowered the tone of the noise, so it's much less annoying. Expensive but would buy again!

Fit and finish are excellent, does a great job of quieting down my old Campbell/Hausfield compressor. It's still loud, but it definitely made a big difference.I don't much care for how easily it comes apart to take out the filter. It hasn't come apart by itself or by accident yet, but it takes so little effort I think it's inevitable.

Very happy with this purchase. I bought this for a Kobalt compressor I just rebuilt, which I picked up used and it didn't come with a filter. I had to use a short 1/2" NPT pipe and elbow because there wasn't enough room to mount it directly to the compressor pump. This was a very loud compressor without the filter (103.5 dB right next to the compressor) and it dropped to 93.9 dB after installing the filter. Might not seem like a big difference, but 10 dB less means now it's about half as loud as it was before. 10-15 feet away it's about half as loud again, so this makes it so I can work nearby without as much worry about hearing protection. Build quality looks really nice too, and the filter pleats are pretty deep - they take up about half the depth of the housing. I'm really glad I didn't get one of the cheaper imported filters.

I suppose it technically lowered the Db per my phone app, from 86 to 84, but I couldn't tell a difference at all.That said, it looks really well made, and the filter is way higher quality than the filter that came with my compressor, so it's not a total loss.

The images speak for themselves...size, build quality, fit & finish, sheet metal thickness; everything is superior with the Solberg.Why would you want to protect a compressor worth hundreds of dollars with an el-cheapo piece of junk? A false economy.I suggest you spend approximately ten more dollars and get a filter that does a good job, is easy to maintain, and will last a long time.
