This rack weighs about 40 lbs, If comparing to different ones verify the weight, the ones around 30 are made of thinner metal and likely not as sturdy (usually contain more negative reviews). I would guess most negative reviews with this one either didn't properly install it or somehow got a different product.I was able to assemble this rack by myself in about 30 minutes (I'm about average at these things, the directions were pretty easy to follow)I like that I can install the rack myself and load the ebikes (about 60 lbs each without batteries). Loading the ebikes is the hardest part but after a few rides I can now install/remove the rack and 2 ebikes in about 15 minutes. The rack has many ways to stabilize the bikes#1 the rack has a stabilizer to prevent wobble when it connects to the hitch#2 the base is adjustable so you can get the bikes to fit perfectly#3 the base has velcro straps to hold in each tire#4 the base has hooks in the middle that hold the bikes in the base#5 after all of the above a ratchet strap is provided that I run through all 4 tires and both bases of the bikes and that keeps everything absolutely steady and provides an extra level of protectionI feel like I'd have to get in an accident for anything to get loose. The rack has a locking pin to keep it on the car, it folds up when not using it to carry the bikes, it folds out when the bikes are installed if you need to get into your hatch.I was able to switch the middle hooks (see pics) to get it to hold a step over and step through bike without buying an extra attachment for the step through. The hooks would be setup evenly if you had 2 step overs or 2 step throughs. Some other racks offer hooks that can be angled for this or you can buy an additional attachment. One other important thing to note I had to disable my Infiniti braking assist and rear sonar, in order to backup my car with the bike rack attached. Not all cars have these features but make sure you can disable them or backing up can be impossible with the rack installed. I also bought a license plate to hang on the bikes because mine is not visible with the rikes on back.At this price point about 150 I think this is probably the best rack out there (watch for sales and coupons I think it can go for about 130 - 180 depending on your timing. I highly recommend this bike rack for heavier ebikes. It's well priced, easy to assemble, very sturdy, and most people can use it by themselves (attaching, loadcing, unloading, and detaching).

Update no. 2I’ve used this several times and still like it. Here are some suggestions for use. One of my bikes fell off the rack once. Scratched the bike but no significant damage. I think I didn’t tighten the hook enough and it came loose. Anyway, here’s my advice. When you’re putting the bike on make sure the wheels are pressed against the outer edge of the stirrup. Attach them tightly to the stirrup. Push down HARD on the hokk and make sure it stays down when you push it down. This is not as obvious as it sounds. Then tighten the hook real tight. Finally, and I didn’t do this, attach the strap that comes with. Wrap it around and through both bikes if you’re lugging two bikes. Otherwise wrap it around the one bike and the pole. (If you’re only hauling one bike put it in the slot nearest the back of the vehicle and strap it to the pole.) I still recommend the rack. It will rattle a little.Original:I like my e-bikes, but one consideration is finding a rack for them that can securely handle the weight. This one can. Very sturdy. Can be folded down to access vehicle and folded up when not in use. Others make similar products at twice the price. Easy to assemble and an excellent YouTube video for people like me who are not mechanically inclined. I’m 76. If I can do it you can do it. Excellent keyed lock comes with together with an anti- rattle hitch. One of the best values I’ve seen on Amazon in a long time.Highly recommended.Update:I have a lightweight ebike and a heavy ebike. For the light bike with battery removed, I just lift it in.For the heavy bike, one person lifting it on is out of the question even if the battery is removed.Solution: build a ramp so you can wheel it on. There is an excellent YouTube that shows how to do this.Still very satisfied with this rack especially at this price.

I can appreciate this at the price point of $150ish. Solid construction and easy assembly. I used it on a 17 hour road trip before writing this. I can say well worth it. I have 2 Super73 e-bikes, both on the heavy side. I was not taking any risks so I used 3 tow straps (my own) to hold down the middle and sides. Despite using all that it still wobbles a decent amount. It surprised me. But the trip went smoothly and the bikes didn’t shift at all. I keep it on my car because I randomly take the bikes out to the beach or wherever and it’s nice that it folds up to save space. HOWEVER if you have a Jeep Wrangler you will NOT be able to open the back even while folding it down. The lock is a nice feature, eases my conscience.
