I have an 18-year-old oven that works very well. I wanted to be able to see the temperature and monitor it, as there are no digital readings on it.I bought one from Walmart that was $16, however that one was technically a meat thermometer and not really for measuring the temperature of the oven itself. Nearly every digital oven thermometer marketed on most websites are meat thermometers. This one appears to be the genuine artifact. It's very well built and costs less than the item I had bought from Walmart. It's easy to install and doesn't have any extra bells and whistles, just the necessary functions. Ideally, run the probe through the back of your oven and place the screen on top of the oven.I had a small magnet laying around from an old refrigerator tablet. You can buy these types of magnets on rolls at the store if you like. I used gorilla glue to fasten the magnet to the bottom of the thermometer, see photos.

The only problem I have the item needs to be thick enough for the prob. Only about a 1/2 in showing outside the item your cooking

I know my oven temperature is not ever right. Now I will really know the temperature is that I am baking at. It is easy to turn on/off and good read out of the temperature.

What a joke! I bought a $5 one from Hobby Lobby and my oven is fine! I was very concerned that the temperature would fluctuate 40 degrees less and 40-50 degrees more and would never be at a steady temp. It would go up and down and up and down without stopping. I didn’t bother to return. I threw it in the garbage.

This unit works well enough but looks a bit odd perched on top of the stove as it is clearly made to be fitted into a panel. My stove is white and has an area to each side the side of the dials and knobs where I could cut a hole in the plastic panel and install it as it’s intended. I will have to investigate to see if there is room behind for it and, if so, I will give that a try to make it look better. Nothing to stop it working for you as it is, if you don’t mind it looking a little out of place, though. Works as intended and is within a degree or two of the reading given by my free-standing thermometer that has been in the oven so far. This is much easier to read being outside of the oven and won’t end up discoloured from the heat inside the oven, like the one I have been using before. The only part that will vary from stove to stove is where you will feed the sensor and wire into the oven. You can just pass it in through the door, of course but I found a way to run it in through the body of the oven on mine to keep the wire out of the way.

Takes a while for the sensor in it to acclimatise which isn't that helpful.I wanted to get this to alert me when my broth was burning while unattended but it's not ideal because you literally have a minute to save it once all the water is gone before it starts to burn. It's not exactly intuitive how to set it, I was hoping for a quicker solution to this.I've decided that the best solution here is a baby monitor pointed at the stove with the screen on my desk.

Temperature of a 325 degree oven registered as 245. Total waste of money.
