Material: Stainless Steel 304.
- Assets: Stainless Steel 304 (T304) is easy to malleable, and durable, and it has a pleasing appearance. Most important, it is safe for use with food.
- Components: T304 has a minimum of 10 percent chromium, 8 percent nickel, a maximum of 0.8 percent carbon, and more than 50 percent iron. The exact proportions of these and other trace elements depend on the specific uses planned for end product.
- Rust Resistant: An important characteristic of T304 that makes it suitable for food use is that it is corrosion-resistant. Chromium binds oxygen on the surface and protects the iron component from oxidation (rust).
- Long-Lasting: The first use of T304 was in brewing and milk production but it was adopted rapidly throughout the food processing industry. T304 products will last several human lifetimes when properly maintained.
Material: Food Grade Silicone Cable & Handle.
- Heat and Cold Resistance: Critically important for food and beverage applications, food grade silicone maintains its properties in both extreme heat and extreme cold. Unlike other materials, it won’t melt or become brittle, which means more reliable equipment and more durable products — important advantage for kitchenware.
- FDA Compliance: Using food grade silicone rubber is one of the best ways to comply with FDA regulations for kitchenwware (FDA regulation 177.2600), covering “rubber articles for repeated use” such as baking molds, food trays, and more.
Why Meat Probe? How?
- A meat thermometer is a unit which will measure core temperature of meats while cooking. It will have a metal probe with a sharp point which is pushed into the meat. It should be connected by a flexible heat-resistant silicone cable to oven control board & display. Some brand models have programmed for auto cooking with the meat probe.
- Use: The probe can be inserted into the meat before starting cooking, and cooking continued until the desired internal temperature is reached. Alternatively the meat can be cooked for a certain time and taken out of the oven, and the temperature checked before serving. The tip of the probe should be in the thickest part of the meat, but not touching bone, which conducts heat and gives an overestimate of the meat temperature.

We got a new to us oven with some fancy features. One of them is a built-in temperature probe. Unfortunately, the oven didn't come with the probe, so we bought this. It work perfectly. Highly recommend.

July 23rd 2016:Purchased two of these as a replacement and spare for our Bosch oven on June 7th, 2016.So far, the first of two probes has failed. It is not recognized by the oven. Total exposure to oven temperatures less than 425F is under two hours.The original, expensive Bosch probe continued to work for some time after its plastic (siliconized or whatever) cover started to fall apart, roughly one year of heavy use baking and roasting.I will knock two more stars if the second probe fails in less than one year of normal use. If the second of two lasts more than a year, I'll add at least a star later.Update:A dozen or so uses later, this still works. Temperatures were under 420F, generally in the 350-375 range for periods of 15-45 minutes. So far, accurate and functional. No offer to replace the one that failed early. Will update this later. Let's see if this probe makes it a year!Update May 6th 2017:Many uses on the second of two probes so far, all under 475F, mostly in the 225F to 400F. Insulation on probe is getting less pliable, probe reads a tad slower than it did when new. Second probe still functions. We'll see if the probe makes it a year.Update Jun 15th 2017Considering that there was a 50% failure rate, the review should be 2.5 stars or less, however the OEM Bosch probes cost twice as much. I'm upgrading the rating to four stars instead of the three assigned previously because one probe still functions. One of the two probes purchased has made it a full 36 uses at temperatures up to 425 degrees, typically temperatures between 350 and 400.Update November 8th 201765 uses on the second probe. Have to twist it to make it work, but then it stops working shortly after. Although we never mishandled it or pulled on it by the wire, it is breaking up on the inside. Temperatures have generally been 400F or under. This is not a good value - two probes lasted about 100 uses. If you regularly cook roasts, fish and chickens in your Bosch oven, you know how great the result is when the temperature probe works. I'd knock a star for value, but since the two probes did help produce many fine meals, we'll keep it at a four.For occasional or novelty use, most people would simply have this probe in the drawer unused - an accessory for selling the house. I'll keep looking for something better.Since two out of two probes died, this ends my long-term review.

I don’t use this a lot so the return window was closed by the time it broke. It worked fine when new. After just a couple of uses it stopped working. Basically it works for a couple of minutes and then disconnects/isn’t registered by oven. To reset it you have to reach into a screaming hot oven to grab a hot probe, between hot oven shelves, risking burning yourself. When you disconnect and reconnect it, it registers for a couple more minutes before the cycle repeats itself. Garbage. The only way to contact the seller is through their website and they don’t bother to reply. Make sure to get one with a warranty from a reputable dealer. Sometimes paying extra for the original manufacturer’s product is worth the few extra dollars. Buyer beware.

Used this twice now and will compare with a second of my cooking thermometers next time. I have a feeling that this is about 2 degrees off, but that's fully within acceptable ranges. LOVED being able to have the oven track it, notify us, and turn off. Have to remember though the oven is still hot so if you leave it there, it will continue to cook further. Worked great both times!!!

Needed a replacement for my BOSCH oven because the original one broke after 11 years. Wasn't sure if it would work but it does! To get through the manufacturer was way more expensive.

My older (17 years!) GE profile gas stove's thermometer hasn’t been working for about 5 years, general wear and tear. I was super upset I couldn’t use it anymore as it saves so much time and worry about any meat dish being spoiled. I loved plugging it in, setting the stove temp and internal temp and walking away.This is exactly like my old one but with longer cord! Worked perfectly. My roast was amazing. I’m super happy with my purchase. Highly recommend.

I purchased this item as a replacement one for my GE stove. The GE OEM probe lasted over 14 years with many roast of all sort. This new probe worked flawlessly for 3 roasts then failed. The problem is located where the probe connects in the oven and flexible cable. That was the same problem with the OEM probe. The flexible cable rubber compound breaks at the junction of the hard plastic. I ordered another one but very desapointed it only lasted 3 roasts. I am given it a 1 rating due to the short life expectancy.The new probe (just received it today) seems to be a weak point again the same location. I am simply hoping it will last longer this time otherwise I will go back to the GE OEM for twice the price.

I confirmed one of the part numbers listed matched the part number provided by my range manufacturer (Frigidaire) and the probe works as good as the original. It's the same length as the original and significantly cheaper than the manufacturer's part. I've only used it twice so I can't comment on longevity, but it seems to be of good quality.
