If you have a kiln with these peep hole plugs, you know that sooner or later one will be dropped and since they are porcelain, they break. This is an identical replacement and works as it should.

DOES THE JOB! Vendor got the plug I needed to me ASAP, correctly addressed, well packed. Item was fairly priced, and definitely does the job its intended to do. This is very important with a glass kiln because not only are internal temperatures critical, having a "leaky air hole" due to a poorly made or poorly fitting kiln plug......that makes for an unevenly heated kiln which means all your valuable time, creativity, expensive outlay on glass (not cheap!!) can quickly go to waste. The glass readily distorts and/or cracks during a faulty cooling period, I kid you not. Therefore: relatively inconspicious as a kiln plug may appear to be -- it needs to be RIGHT. This one abundantly is. Warmly recommend both vendor and product.

You may have to carefully grind the casting seams for better peep hole fit.

Skutt's equipment is top quality. I drilled holes in the ends of the kiln plugs and inserted thermocouples. I used some fabric insulation inside and around the thermocouples. They work fine.

Perhaps the mould used is a different version, but these are not the same. A slight larger and do not fit into the original peep holes. Though still tapered, they fit loosely and easily are tapped out of place if accidentally brushed while loading the kiln
